Moonwalkers – Art from the Pastoral toward the Esoteric
A project initiated by Paul Brunet, Guillaume Clermont and Mathieu Lévesque, also featuring works by Barry Allikas, Marigold Santos, Chloé Savoy and Éric Simon.
At the dawn of civilization our intrepid ancestors, surely bothered by the tragedy of their sad circumstances, freely followed their wicked imaginations. Primitive societies of the time devoted great energy and wisdom to depicting their fears and dreams. Sacred trinkets here, funerary idols there - deliriously painting their joys and their hallucinations, these shamans and free-thinkers of old recorded and interpreted their lives and the world around them.
From a strictly anthropological point of view, there has always been a direct link - even a common destiny - between art and esotericism. This connection, though it may have waxed and waned through the centuries from sanctuary caves to New Age movements, by way of Freemasonry and Walter Benjamin, still endures today.

Artist talk with Marigold Santos Jan 11, 1-2 pm
Forest City Gallery presents an exhibition featuring works by artist Marigold Santos titled still. This show explores the ways in which ideas of self can become multiple, fragmented, and dislocated and then re-invented and created through a reflection of what is considered home. Marigold situates her work within the realm of play between the narratives of past and present. In the re-telling and reconfiguring of these narratives, they transform to become personal myth whose imagery functions in the fantastical and otherworldly.
